For as long as there have been artists, there have been muses who inspire them. This is especially true of fashion designers, who team up with stylish, beautiful and famous women in the hopes that they'll represent and enhance their aesthetic.
It all began with Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy, a match made in fashion heaven. Their long-lasting friendship would propel Audrey to international icon status after Hubert put her in one of the world’s most widely recognized dresses – the LBD worn the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Audrey, in turn, put Givenchy on the map as the designer du jour, sporting his tea-length frocks and ultra-chic modern gowns at every red-carpet event she attended.
"His are the only clothes in which I am myself. He is far more than a couturier, he is a creator of personality," the brunette beauty once said of her designer friend.
These days, celebrity/designer collaborations are more ubiquitous than ever. From Diane Kruger and Karl Lagerfeld to Marc Jacobs and Sofia Coppola, fashion's dynamic duos prove that when it comes to sartorial savvy, two heads are better than one.
One of our favourite twosomes has to be Zac Posen and Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha, a friendship that’s been going strong since the designer cast the then-up-and-coming model in his Spring 2007 runway show.
“I’m always inspired by powerful, strong women,” Zac gushed to Hello! Canada about his muse.
And when it came time for Coco to choose a wedding gown in 2010, there was only one designer she could trust to create her dream dress. She said, “I do” in a one-of-a-kind custom couture gown made by Zac.
