Sarah Jessica Parker’s top 50 style moments from ‘Sex and the City’

From funky to avant-garde, few stars have left a mark on the fashion landscape quite like Sarah Jessica Parker. Ever since Sex and the City made its HBO debut nearly 17 years ago, SJP’s aesthetic has become synonymous with her shoe-obsessed character, Carrie Bradshaw, and her inimitable sense of style.

And although it’s been more than five years since the second film based on the hit TV series was released, many women still look up to Carrie as their fashion leader – the woman who can (and does!) wear anything with confidence and panache.

Her furs, that white tutu, sky-high heels and endless bold accessories became staples of her fashion-forward sensibility, with the spunky sex columnist rarely wearing the same thing twice.

In real life, however, the mother of three insists she’s more practical than her small-screen counterpart, donning flats and even (gasp) Ugg boots and sweatpants when she’s out running errands with her children.

Yet when it comes to the red carpet, Sarah Jessica never disappoints. The style maven regularly turns heads with her surprising and unusual ensembles, an ode to the character that made her famous.

She’s seemingly hung up Carrie’s Manolo Blahniks for now (or so we heard from Chris Noth!), but the actress has been keeping busy with multiple fashion endeavours, having launched her own shoe and accessories line, the SJP Collection, last year.

Meanwhile, rumours continue to circulate that we’ll soon see a Sex and the City 3.

“Sarah Jessica and I both know what the final chapter is,” show creator Michael Patrick King told Entertainment Weekly last year. “That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation.

“But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”

Here, as we celebrate Sarah Jessica’s milestone 50th birthday, we look back at her 50 most memorable outfits from SATC.
