Amal Clooney impressed onlookers with her off-duty style on Tuesday night (March 24), stepping out in an eye-catching ensemble for a dinner date with friends in New York City. The 37-year-old lawyer was fashion forward in high-waisted patterned palazzo pants and a black textured fur crop top.
The attorney, who is married to movie star George Clooney, completed her fun and fearless look with a black overcoat, towering platform shoes and a navy clutch bag.
The Big Apple will be home to Amal and George for the foreseeable future. George, 53, is busy filming his new movie Money Monster there, while London-based lawyer Amal recently announced she is joining Columbia University this spring as a visiting faculty member and as a senior fellow with the law school’s Human Rights Institute.
“It is an honour to be invited as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School alongside such a distinguished faculty and talented student pool,” Amal said in an official statement. “I look forward to getting to know the next generation of human rights advocates studying here.”
Amal’s impressive curriculum makes her the ideal candidate for the job. She has served as a senior adviser to Kofi Annan and represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in extradition proceedings. She has also handled numerous cases before the International Criminal Court and the European Court of Human Rights.
While she is lecturing, husband George will be at the nearby Kaufman Studios in Long Island, filming the Jodie Foster-directed movie, which also stars Julia Roberts and Dominic West. George stars in the thriller as a financial TV personality Lee Gates who is held hostage by a viewer who lost all of his money following a bad tip from Lee on his show.
George recently spoke lovingly about his wife of five months – who he described as “the smart one”.
“I’m very happy. It’s exciting,” he said of married life, as he stepped out solo for the SeriousFun Children’s Network’s New York Gala last week. “I really love my wife, I’m having a great time and I’m very proud of her. I couldn’t be more proud of the things she does.”
