Collection of Style, better known as COS, is a beloved retail chain that launched in London and quickly grew fans around the world thanks to its affordable, fashion-forward staples. Now, Canadians won't have to travel overseas to get their fix - the brand and its timeless wares are crossing the pond to open two stores in Canada this fall.
The first store will welcome shoppers in Toronto at 85 Bloor Street, amid the city's top designer boutiques (think: Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana) on a stretch affectionately referred to as the "Mink Mile." Next, a second boutique will serve Montreal's stylish set at 1310 Saint Catherine West, an equally upscale shopping neighbourhood in the city's downtown core.
Owned by the H&M group (yes, that H&M), COS opened its first outpost in London in 2007, offering urban men and women the modern yet functional designs for which they have become famous. Shunning the trends in favour of pieces that could live in a closet forever, the brand is now sold in more than 25 countries, including Bahrain, Turkey, Singapore, Ireland, the United States and South Korea.
Unlike sister retail giant H&M, COS transcends age (you might mistake some of these streamlined and elegant pieces for Celine or or Stella McCartney, says Vogue) and, though conscious of price tags, is definitely not fast fashion. Famous fans include top fashion blogger and photographer Hanneli Mustaparta.
