When she's not smashing her tennis opponents or tweeting to her loyal fanbase, a.k.a. the “Genie Army” (more than 454,000 Twitter followers strong!), Eugenie Bouchard is serving up glamour, posing for a spectacular photo spread in the latest issue of Flare.
Shot by photographer Nino Muños against a stunning desert backdrop, the 21-year-old tennis phenomenon proves to be a natural-born model, navigating the treacherous landscape of Palm Springs, Calif. like a pro – sky-high stilettos and all!

You’d never know, for example, that Genie had “narrowly avoided a rattlesnake” to snap the exquisite cover shot (she smoulders in a short, grey Marc Jacobs dress). It’s yet another reason why fans have come to love the forthright athlete’s unique blend of beauty and talent. Smart, charming and relatable to boot, Genie’s Cinderella story has touched her legions of followers, who are always keen to rally in the tennis star’s corner.
Canada’s golden girl, however, is quick to point out that she’s a far cry from an overnight sensation.
Genie wows on the summer issue of Flare magazine, on newsstands May 11
“I’ve always had this inner confidence, this inner belief,” she tells Flare. “Any successful run I have is never a surprise, because I put in 10 years of hard work.”
The pretty blond tennis player also addresses that controversial Australian Open incident, in which an interviewer admired her outfit and asked her to "give us a twirl."
"I didn’t think it was sexist at all,” she says. “It was maybe a bit odd, but I’m a girl and I do care about what I look like, and I do care about my outfit. We are females, and we can play the sport and be tough on the court but have a girly side and care about fashion and all these things. I think it’s great that we can be more than just tennis players.”
Flare isn't Eugenie’s first foray into fashion. Late last year, the five-foot-10 stunner signed with IMG models "to expand her presence in the fashion industry” and posed for an exclusive fashion spread in the pages of Hello! Canada.
