“We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it," reads a statement from Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and his wife, Princess Sofia. The happy news comes just shy of four months after the gorgeous couple said “I do” in a lavish ceremony at Stockholm’s Royal Chapel.

The first sign of a baby bumpcame on Oct. 23, when the princess accompanied her husband to the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences' formal gathering in Stockholm. She showed off her growing bump in a sequined blush gown, worn with a royal sash.
Ever since, Sofia stepped out of the carriage on her wedding day in a stunning bespoke Sjöstedt gown, the 30-year-old former model has proven her style savvy in a medley of flowy dresses, perfectly tailored coats, pretty prints and practical pumps, and now, she will have a chance to show off her finest maternity looks as she looks forward to her due date, expected to be in April.
Sofia has been keeping a busy schedule throughout her first trimester.
Little did we know, but Princess Sofia started her maternity look book weeks ago during a variety of engagements alongside her handsome husband. The lovebirds have been criss-crossing Sweden dropping in on welcoming crowds in Varmland and Borlange, where the mom-to-be showed off her maternal side as she played and danced with children at a refugee centre.
Luckily for Sofia, she has two skilled and stylish mentors to turn to should she need help selecting ensembles. Carl Philip’s younger sister, Princess Madeleine, has mastered maternity wear twice and big sister Victoria, already mom to three-year-old Princess Estelle, is also expecting a child in the spring. Sofia might even take the sisterly style inspiration a step further and take advantage of their open-closet policy. The threesome have been spotted on many occasions wearing each other’s clothes, so it would come as no surprise to see the princess having a turn in some of Madeleine and Victoria’s most memorable maternity pieces.
