Stylist-to-the-stars Brad Goreski is gearing up for his busiest time of year – awards season. “[I see] a big return to glamour on the red carpet,” he tells HFM. “We are moving past minimalism, the pared-down look, and we’re going to be seeing tons of beading, fluid fabrics, with embroidery and lots of jewelry.” "It" girls Alicia Vikander and Saoirse Ronan might be moving up the style ranks, but Brad admits that he’s most excited to see what the veterans whip up. “I have high hopes for Rooney Mara. She always hits the high notes on the red carpet.” Another one of the Fashion Police star’s favourites is Carey Mulligan. “I love her style, there is something sweet and endearing about her that makes her very interesting.”
Wardrobe malfunctions happen to everyone, including A-list celebrities. Brad reveals to HFM that one of his clients, “bent over when we were just about to walk out of the door to go to the Vanity Fair Oscars party and the zipper on the back of her gown totally busted. I had no backup and we were like ‘Oh my God, what do we do now?” The quick thinking star says he, “found a black safety pin and pinned up her zipper and nobody noticed.” And while he always appears cool, calm and collected, Brad admits that, "Forty-eight hours before the Oscars is madness. You have to prepare your red-carpet supplies as if there is an earthquake coming."
Brad was born and raised in Port Perry, Ont., northeast of Toronto, before beginning his career as an intern at W magazine. After a short stint at Vogue he joined famed stylist Rachel Zoe's team in 2008. His big break came when he landed Jessica Alba as a client. "I owe so much to her for taking a chance on me," he states. "One of my favourite Jessica moments was at the 2012 Oscars when she wore a coral Oscar de la Renta mermaid gown with her hair in Veronica Lake waves -- and a six million dollar Harry Winston necklace!"
