Charlotte Casiraghi is a royal knockout in Gucci at the 2016 Met Gala

Style star Charlotte Casiraghi made a colourful impact at the 2016 Met Gala in New York when she stepped out in a rainbow tiered creation by Gucci. The mother of one walked the red carpet alongside the fashion house's creative director Alessandro Michele, actor Jared Leto and actress Dakota Johnson.

While many fashionistas opted for metallic hues, think Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton and Ciara, Princess Caroline's daughter embraced a rainbow of ruffled yellow, pink, red and purple.

The Gucci-clad team included Dakota Johnson and Jared Leto.

It comes as no surprise that the Monaco royal opted to wear Gucci to fashion's biggest night being that she is the face of the brand's cosmetics collection. Charlotte has appeared in numerous campaigns for the Italian designer since 2014.

Charlotte wasn't the only member of royalty rubbing shoulders with Anna Wintour's exclusive guests. Queen Rania of Jordan was also in attendance and turned heads in an elegant black-and-white feathered gown by Valentino.

This year's Met Gala theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. The event was co-hosted by Anna Wintour, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba and Apple's Jonathan Ive.
