Hello! Canada staff pick their favourite looks from the 2016 Met Gala

Ally Dean, Fashion and Beauty Editor, @allyedean:
Claire Danes (Zac Posen): All hail the futuristic Cinderella and her ethereal ballgown, which literally glows in the dark!
The Weeknd and Bella Hadid: File this under relationship goals! The Canadian singer looked dapper in an all black suit from Givenchy and girlfriend, model Bella, dressed to match (#aww) in a seductive look is straight off Riccardo Tisci’s s/s 2016 runway collection, right down to the thigh-high, sheer stockings and peep toes.
Rachel McAdams: Continuing her recent string of red carpet wins, Rachel styled her gilded, long-sleeved Valentino gown flawlessly with a nearly black red lip a deep side part and textured hair.

Patrick Limgenco, Designer:
Alicia Vikander: She looks like she just walked straight out of a video game, so sweet but ready to kick some ass.
Zayn Malik: It’s tough for men to stand out on the red carpet. He stood out and stayed on theme!
Emma Watson: The long train, the pants, the peak of skin! Gorgeous!

Nicole Duplantis, Digital Colour Specialist, @Nicole Duplantis:
Zoey Deutch (Dolce and Gabbana): Not sure it fits the theme (although my other choices don’t really either) but it’s so pretty. Not crazy about the heart embellishment, but the side view is stunning!
Zendaya: The colour of her Michael Kors dress is a little bland but I love the whole look.
Lily-Rose Melody Depp: Not a huge fan of halters, but love the deep V and the length and style of the bottom half of this Chanel gown.

Michael Killingsworth, Senior Editor, @m_killingsworth:
Emma Watson (Calvin Klein): No sparkles, just elegance.
Xavier Dolan: Canada's film world star looked dashing in Louis Vuitton.
Taylor Swift 2.0: The futuristic Louis Vuitton ensemble suits the night's theme, but it's the singer's fresh beauty look that I'm liking. And the boots.

Clare Douglas, Digital Editor, @roseofclare:
Lea Seydoux (Louis Vuitton): This is how you take basic black and white and make it memorable. I love how the off-the-shoulder top with puffy sleeves somehow softens the sexiness of the upper-thigh-high slit.
Claire Danes: This Zac Posen ball gown was born to glow, so I wish they had turned off the lights on the red carpet to let it have its moment. Still, the Homeland star looked stunning and her gown stood out in a sea of skin-tight silhouettes.
Liu Wen: The model shined in this silver, slinky and sexy frock by Iris Van Herpen.

Farzin Ghayour, Assistant Photo Editor, @farzinghayour:
Nicole Kidman: She put a spell on me! Channeling her inner witchy Practical Magic days, Nicole looked stunning in this Alexander McQueen caped dress.
Orlando Bloom: Not only did he look dapper and smart in his Prada suit he won hands down for best accessory of the night, a Tamagotchi!
Emma Watson: A real stunner in pants, Emma's Calvin Klein ensemble was stylish, sensible and made from recycled items!

Erica Cupido, Staff Writer, @ericaec:
Jourdan Dunn: The Balmain army was out in full force on the steps of the Met. Of all the silver head-to-toe interpretations of the man vs. machine theme, model Jourdan Dunn’s was my favourite. Her sleek bob also has me contemplating a chop.
Zayn Malik: The Versace-clad singer earns one of my top spots for proving that the guys can dress in theme as well. When it comes to the men on the red carpet, an extremely close second goes to gala co-chair Idris Elba, who can do no wrong in Tom Ford.
Selena Gomez: Those stars who weren’t dressed by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing were Team Louis Vuitton, like Selena, and they declared the era of nearly naked sandals officially over. I think looking more like a cool kid than pop princess was a good move on her part.

Anna Redman, Staff Writer, @aredman28:
Hailee Steinfeld: She looked gorgeous in her figure-flattering green gown from H&M, which managed to be both chic and sophisticated.
Kate Upton: The model was all that glitters in her eye-catching one-shouldered creation from Topshop.
Nicole Kidman: The actress looked like a walking starry night in this exquisite show-stopper from Alexander McQueen – one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite brands.

Ava Baccari, Staff Writer, @avabac:
Lily-Rose Depp: The young model is the picture of Gatsby-inspired grace. So feminine and fierce!
Zoe Saldana: I have no words for that Dolce & Gabbana train —only gasps of long, awe-filled admiration.
Sienna Miller (Gucci): Only she can make gold sequins and a bow look boho. And amazing.

Wallace Pei, Web Producer:
Jourdan Dunn: Although, there were a few C-3PO-inspied styles out there, the model played it off best in Balmain.
Kate Bosworth (Dolce & Gabbana): Her sparkly accessories looked elegant and interesting.
Emily Ratajkowski (Prabal Gurung): She's got it, so she should flaunt it. Plus I liked the sharp clean lines to go with her sleek slender figure.
