It could be the glow off the sunny French Riviera as the 2016 Cannes Film Festival kicked off or simply the Justin Timberlake effect, but it seems like everyone in Hollywood has some sunshine in their pockets this week. For stars like Kirsten Dunst and Vanessa Paradis on the red carpet, it's translating into soft pastel hues and delicate floral prints to match the upbeat mood of the season.
All eyes were on Blake Lively this week as she debuted her baby bump on the Croisette in Cannes, France. The 28-year-old, who left her husband and 17-month-old daughter James at home, first showcased the signs of her pregnant belly at the photocall for the festival's opening film, Café Society, in which she stars. Later in the week, she shone in a ladylike Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress and Christian Louboutin heels. All signs point to a stylish summer (and maternity) ahead!
Also at the festival was French actress Vanessa Paradis, looking elegant in a pink-and-yellow floral lace Chanel gown. The stylish mom and member of this year's Cannes jury took to the red carpet later in the week to support her daughter (with former partner Johnny Depp), Lily-Rose Depp, at the premiere of the young fashion icon's film The Dancer. Vanessa's fellow judge Kirsten Dunst also ruled the red carpet in a sweeping Gucci gown festooned with large poppies and tied delicately at the waist.
Across the English Channel ( before making her way to the south of France), Anna Kendrick made an appearance at BBC Radio 2 in London to chat about her upcoming film, Trolls, which also co-stars "Can't Stop the Feeling" singer and pal Justin Timberlake. Clad in an adorable, lacy Monique Lhuillier cocktail dress, the 30-year-old signed autographs and snapped selfies with fans outside.
Bright and cheery floral prints set the tone for a lighthearted fashion season: new mom Anne Hathaway looked totally garden party-chic in a floral Disaya dress to match the theme of her Alice Through the Looking Glass event in Los Angeles. Maisie Williams (in Antonia Berardi), Chloë Sevigny (in pink Prada) and Chloë Grace Moretz (in Gucci) also shone in girlish prints, ushering in an upbeat summer trend.
