’Tis the season for freshly bloomed summer prints – and, as always, the splashier (and sparklier) the better! Paparazzi couldn’t get enough of French actress Marion Cotillard, who stepped out in a glittering, embroidered floral dress at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Alicia Vikander also ignited a flashbulb frenzy in a fiery red-carpet gown with a hailstorm print. Eye-catching floral prints were out in fine, painterly form this week.
Parisian beauty Marion’s embroidered silk dress from Christian Dior’s Resort 2017 collection was a classic oeuvre from the house – and a natural style choice for their longtime spokesperson. Marion, a master of unexpected pairings, contrasted the floral skirt and Medieval-inspired black bodice with a pastel-blue Diorama Club bag and navy heels for a très chic pop of colour.
Meanwhile, Alicia stole the sartorial spotlight when she stepped onto the red carpet in a burnt-orange lace Rodarte gown sprinkled with white polka dots. The edgy ensemble featured cascading ruffles and was finished off with a barely there beauty look.
Tarzan star Margot Robbie perfected the art of subtlety in a custom Miu Miu sheer gown adorned with a black trim and Art Deco sequin detailing – call it a win for understated elegance.
At the other end of the floral spectrum, maximal pop-art prints were spotted on Kate Moss (in her namesake Topshop collection), Cate Blanchett (in Armani), Arizona Muse (in Burberry) and model Mica Arganaraz (in Louis Vuitton). Fashion darling Alexa Chung went ladylike chic in an Alessandra Rich dress with a strawberry print – though her best accessory was her date, boyfriend Alexander Skarsgard. Again, it’s all about the details!
