Bella Hadid has walked in some of NYFW’s biggest shows, but that doesn’t mean she is letting success go to her head. In fact, the model has revealed that her emotions have been running high this week, starting with her appearance in the Prabal Gurung show on Sunday.
The 20-year-old walked in the finale of the show, which featured a feminist tribute with models – and Prabal himself – wearing slogan t-shirts emblazoned with political statements such as "I Am an Immigrant" and "The Future is Female". Speaking to Fashionista, Bella said it was a moving finale.
Bella Hadid cried in the finale of the Prabal Gurung New York Fashion Week show
"I went out and walked, and right before finale, when Prabal was about to go walk, I saw him tearing up and I just started crying because it was such a beautiful, moving show," Bella said. "Everybody in the audience was crying during the finale; it was really, really powerful and I'm really proud of him. It was incredible."
Bella also cried after finding out she was going to close the Oscar de la Renta show on Monday, as it was such a big moment in her career. "I mean, literally, I also cried! I don't know if it's just a very emotional week, but that show has always been something really big to me," Bella said. "It's such an iconic brand and I've always looked up to the designers. I cried when I got the show in general, and then when I heard I was closing, I was at a loss for words. [That dress] was so beautiful; when I first tried it on, it was so incredible."
The model also shared her excitement at starring in the show on Instagram, telling fans: "Closing the @oscardelarenta show last night ? Somebody pinch me! Walking this show, let alone closing it was truly a highlight of my year... it feels so surreal! I am so grateful. Thank you to everybody at Oscar de la Renta."
