Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Stella McCartney and other famous faces from the fashion world paid their respects to late Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani at a public memorial service on Monday (Feb. 27).
Franca's friends and peers turned out in their droves at Milan's Duomo Cathedral to pay tribute following her death from a year-long illness in December. Among them were Naomi Campbell and Rita Ora, who later shared a photo on Instagram, writing: "Honouring Franca Sozzani and her legacy today in Milan."
In testament to Franca's extensive career editing the fashion magazine for 28 years, she was remembered by a number of the world's biggest fashion designers including Valentino, Giorgio Armani and Miuccia Prada.
Franca passed away on Dec. 22 at the age of 66, with her death prompting an outpouring of grief from the fashion world.
At the time Victoria said she had been "mesmerized" after spending time with the fashion editor in a touching Instagram post. Sharing a photo of herself and Franca together, Victoria wrote: "I had the privilege of spending time with Franca over the years. Not enough now as it sadly transpires. Whenever I was with her I was mesmerized by her strength of character, her charitable work, her creative vision. "She encouraged me and inspired me whenever we spoke. What a legacy she leaves behind. RIP @francasozzani1. x VB."
Other stars to express their sadness following Franca's passing included Jessica Alba, who wrote: "The incredibly warm, intelligent, witty, fierce and rebellious #francasozzani will be missed..." Meanwhile Jourdan Dunn thanked Franca for helping to launch her career when she was a teenager.
