Bella Hadid is one of the most in-demand models in the world - a status that undoubtedly comes with great pressure. But unlike other models in the business, the 20-year-old is lucky to have older sister Gigi to turn to for advice when it comes to fashion industry struggles. "Gigi is my best friend and I love her to death," Bella told us at the launch of the new Dior Pump'n'Volume mascara at Selfridges. "It's cool to be able to call her and not talk about work - or talk about work."
Social media trolls have tried to pit the sisters against eachother in the past and create the feeling that there is a serious case of sibling rivalry going on between them. Bella has spoken out on a number of occasions, explaining that the claims couldn't be further from the truth as Gigi is her closest confidante. "Gigi has been through everything I am going through now because she has been in the business for a little bit longer than I have. To be able to get advice on things is so great." The girls very clearly have an incredible bond and are always there to pick one another up when life gets difficult. "Gigi is amazing. I love her. If I am ever sad she will always lighten my mood," Bella told us.
Despite their close friendship, the 20-year-old face of Dior Makeup revealed that she and her sister have disagreements from time to time. "Gigi will completely deny it but I go to her house and she will have all of my stuff," she told us. "Sometimes I realise I left my stuff at her house and then feel bad for yelling at her about it. We always end up sharing clothes though."
While the girls do like to share clothes and accessories from time to time, Bella admitted that their choice of outfits can vary rather drastically. "Growing up, Gigi was always wearing a lot of colour, and a lot of florals, you know? She was definitely our Malibu girl. I was always wearing leather and dark things, and I think I am still like that. Red is my favourite colour and the only pop of colour you will see from me!"
The model, who has walked for the likes of Chanel and Oscar de la Renta, went on to explain how important it is for her to keep her family and friends close to her as she navigates the fashion world. "It's tough," she said. "I like to keep people around me who have known me since I was a kid because they don't care who I am or what I do. I've just learned to keep the people I love around me and not take everything so personally. In the beginning I was reading everything and watching everything and it was really hard. Now I just try to live my life the best I can."
