Meghan Markle's style: 5 Toronto Fashion Week looks perfect for the royal-to-be

Meghan Markle may not be a Toronto resident anymore, having crossed the pond to London to live with her future husband Prince Harry, but the style icon has left her mark on the city she called home while filming Suits. In fact, the fall/winter 2018 runways at Toronto Fashion Week in luxe Yorkville Village were ripe for the plucking where the Canadian label-loving royal-to-be is concerned!
With her laid-back yet polished aesthetic, the 36-year-old loves to make a statement with outerwear, like the perfect belted coat, and has been known to shirk gowns in favour of chic suiting. Brands like Hilary McMillan, Andrew Coimbra x Uncuffed and Nonie had the perfect pieces to keep Meghan marching in her parade of Canuck fashions for months to come.

Meghan is no stranger to the Nonie brand, which she's worn in the past. Designer Nina Kharey crafts her luxe sportswear designs with a thoroughly modern client in mind - and who better to embody that type than the woman who is rewriting the royal style rule book! From her messy bun to a predilection for suiting, Meghan has strayed from the usual boundaries of titled dressing and fans have loved every minute. This olive ensemble with pencil pants and a sleek belted jacket works on so many levels - it calls to mind the slim-fitting suit Prince Harry's fiancee wore to the Endeavour Fund Awards combined with the silhouette of her many belted coats. A win win!

Andrew Coimbra has only been designing since 2015 but his Toronto-based brand has fast become one to watch. Described as "cool yet refined," his aesthetic is right in line with Meghan's personality - and we know this belted grey coat is right up her alley. With a hardware-embellished belt (a collaboration with Uncuffed) and thin lapel, this stunning piece is a twist on the classic and a perfect addition to the bride-to-be's wardrobe for official engagements.

Meghan has showcased a neutral colour palette as she settles into her role as future senior royal, testing the waters at her first appearances and engagements with Prince Henry. But in the past, the 36-year-old hasn't shied away from brighter hues, her fashion playbook inked in reds and blues. This poppy-hued asymmetrical dress by Toronto's Tara Rivas has the clean lines for which Meghan is known and a cut that would perfectly flatter her slender build.

The former Suits star has a covetable collection of coats, but we've yet to see her slip into something denim! The Canadian king and queen of jean - Adam and Ania Taubenfligel - source their sustainable vintage blues from Los Angeles and turn them into fashion-forward designs. This is perfect for a night on the town at Soho House with Meghan's close friend Markus Anderson!

When Meghan stepped out for the closing ceremony of Prince Harry's Invictus Games in Toronto last year, her nude LINE trench was the coat seen (and admired!) 'round the world. This silky robe by cruelty-free designer Hilary MacMillan is a sound addition to Meghan's widely admired outerwear collection - and with the designer's Scottish heritage, it may be the perfect accent to the look the former actress wears on her first official visit to Scotland on Feb. 13!
