Meghan Markle and Duchess Kate have many things in common, from their various youth-focused initiatives to their choice of nail polish. But the two seemed particularly in step on Monday (March 12) with their very similar choice of footwear for the Commonwealth Day ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
While Commonwealth Day is a celebration of unity, the fashion duo seems to have taken it a step further and unified in their footwear choice. The identical-looking navy blue suede pumps appear to be Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 105’ heels, a staple in Kate’s wardrobe as she reportedly owns four pairs and often breaks them out on special occasions. Coming in a range of colours, from denim blue to tabasco red, these are definitely a staple shoe (retailing at $882 Canadian) that will never go out of style.
While the shoes look similar, Meghan was actually wearing a pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps in their ‘BB’ style. And it’s not the first time she’s sported the luxury brand – at her previous engagement in Birmingham, she wore the same shoe in black.
As usual, the two dazzled the crowds in equally stunning outfits for the special day, Meghan’s first official outing alongside Her Majesty. The former actress donned a navy dress and white coat by Amanda Wakeley , completing the ensemble with a matching white beret by Stephen Jones. The Duchess of Cambridge went with a simple, perfectly tailored navy coat courtesy of Beulah London and a matching hat by Lock & Co.
Royal watchers are keen to see Meghan and Kate step out together, which they first did in February when the “Fab Four,” including Prince Harry and Prince William, took part in the Royal Foundation in London. The two coordinated outfits first then, both going with a classic shade of dark blue, Kate in affordable and recycled Seraphine dress and Meghan in a pricier Jason Wu belted number. The future sisters-in-law are sure to be seen many more times leading up to and following the big royal wedding in May.
