The Swedish royals were out in full force to celebrate their country’s National Day on Wednesday (June 6), where traditional yellow, blue and white ensembles are the usual fare for the family’s women. But Crown Princess Victoria opted for something decidedly more modern in a dress by Self-Portrait, one of Meghan Markle and Duchess Kate’s favourite designers – and a look that the mother of two has worn in the past.
The 40-year-old was the picture of elegance in an ornate white eyelet knee-length number. Keeping her hair back in a chic chignon, Victoria paired the look with simple drop earrings, a white shoulder bag and classic nude pumps to pull the perfect spring look together. And this particular ensemble has served her equally well in the past! The future Queen first wore this very same dress to Prince Oscar’s christening back in 2016.
Self-Portrait is certainly one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s go-to designers, having worn the British label to many events, like the crocheted maxi dress she donned for a film screening supporting Action on Addiction. Meghan, 36, has also been quite fond of the brand in the past, opting for a gorgeous green spring dress for her Invictus Games outing with Prince Harry, just one month before they said “I do”. Though it’s uncertain why the Crown Princess chose not to wear the traditional outfit this year, her stunning choice of dress certainly makes up for it!
To make the occasion even sweeter, a brand-new portrait of her two adorable children with Prince Daniel, Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle, was released. In the photo, the siblings sit side-by-side on the steps of their home, Haga Palace, showing off their pearly whites with the cutest grins. With just a quick glance at the siblings’ sweet photo shoots, it’s clear that these two have an extremely close bond.
The six-year-old and her grandmother, Queen Silvia, both donned the traditional Swedish clothing for the occasion, which Victoria wore for last year’s National Day. The blue-and-white ensemble features a pretty daisy print, which women wear with stark white stockings, a white blouse and traditional black shoes.
The Swedish royal family has an exciting week ahead as they prepare for Princess Adrienne’s christening on Friday (June 8). The newest member of the close-knit clan was born on March 9, 2018 to Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill and counts adorable Princess Leonore, 4, and Prince Nicolas, 2, as her big siblings. The special occasion will take place in the Royal Chapel at Drottningholm Palace and is sure to see another set of stylish ensembles on the country’s reigning family.
