Blink and you might think you were looking at the Duchess of Sussex, save the gloves! Angelina Jolie made a regal appearance at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Thursday (June 28), wearing a stunning pale-grey dress with a matching hat for the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George.
While the actress and humanitarian should have been getting reacquainted with the Queen at the event, Her Majesty bowed out at the last minute due to a summer cold and sent her cousin, the Duke of Kent, as Grand Master of the Order.
Choosing a hue from the Duchess of Sussex's new favoured colour palette, Angelina turned to one of the royal's favourite designers – Ralph & Russo couture, the label behind Meghan's semi-sheer engagement look – for her elegant ensemble. The three-quarter-sleeve look featured a Meghan-worthy nipped waste, ruffle flourish with a demure slit at the knee and a cowl neckline.
Her neat chignon and matching tilted topper called to mind the duchess's esthetic of late. Taking a page from the Queen's style book, the mother of six added a pair of slouchy gloves, along with the piece de resistance – the bejewelled brooch of a Dame.
The 43-year-old mingled with fellow recipients of honours from the Order as the congregation commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Order, which recognizes the work of those in foreign or Commonwealth countries and consists of 125 Knights and Dames Grand Cross, 375 Knights and Dames Commander and 1,750 companions.
Back in 2014, the Maleficent star was made an Honourary Dame Grand Cross by Her Majesty in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace attended by Angelina's then-husband Brad Pitt and their children Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
Angelina chose a similar colour palette when she first received the honour, opting for another Ralph & Russo creation – then a dove-grey suit with a raised collar, also with a cinched waist and three-quarter sleeves. Meghan has been turning to a similar colour wheel of neutrals and blush pink as she navigates royal life since her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry.
While the duchess has yet to wear gloves (and if she chooses to, she should take note of Angelina's chic pair!), she has been opting for a number of two-piece suits with belted waists by the likes of Prada and Carolina Herrera, as well as chic dresses by her go-to designer Clare Waight-Keller at Givenchy.
