Meghan Markle debuted a look on Tuesday (July 15) that had royal watchers reminiscing on her pre-wedding style. Stepping out for a visit to the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition with Prince Harry, the royal donned the ‘Sleeveless Trench’ by Calgary based label NONIE . And while the Duchess of Sussex is certainly praised for her sartorial savvy, she does have a helping hand who lives in her former home base of Toronto, Canada.
Pairing the edgy look with cream Dior ‘Essence’ pumps, a Mulberry clutch and her trademark messy bun, Meghan was absolutely glowing from within – and she has one of her close friends and stylists, Jessica Mulroney , to thank for picking this particular look! NONIE’s founder, Nina Kharey, confirmed the exciting news on her Instagram, writing: “What an amazing day for us! The stunning Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle in our Sleeveless Trench dress. Available to order at www.houseofnonie.com #pinchme#wearcanadaproud thank you @jessicamulroney”. The designer shared the note along with a photo of Meghan and Harry from that day.
Speaking to Hello! Canada, Nina gushed: “[Jessica has] been a client of a few of my pieces and she’s also a strong advocate for Canadian designers, so I’m sure she showed [Meghan] my look book and then that’s how it started.” She continued: “They both are amazing women. I love supporting other women and I love dressing strong, influential women and I would love for it to happen again. I am relishing in this; I’m enjoying the moment!”
Jessica and Meghan go way, way back, having first crossed paths while the duchess was filming Suits in Toronto. Bonding over their love for yoga and fashion, the mother of three started styling the actress and they became fast friends, often spotted traveling together. A wedding expert to boot, it’s no surprise that Jessica helped make Meghan’s big day the most special – she flew to London for numerous fittings and her children (Ivy, 5, and seven-year-olds Brian and John) served as bridesmaid and pageboys. Most recently, Jessica is believed to have snuck off to London ahead of Meghan’s first overseas tour in Ireland to help with her wardrobe.
