Meghan Markle style: Fashion week looks perfect for her first royal tour

As Meghan Markle prepares to embark on her first major overseas tour on Oct. 16, we’re looking to fashion weeks in London, Paris, Milan and New York to see what might inspire her wardrobe selections for the epic 16 days abroad!
Thankfully, there was no shortage of styles on the runway to inspire her planning for a mind-blowing 76 official engagements. The collections provided plenty of sartorial – and seasonally appropriate! – ideas with an array of daytime dresses, polished separates and formal evening wear.
From close friend Roland Mouret to perennial favourites like Erdem, Givenchy and Jason Wu, plus a few new labels for the Duchess of Sussex to try, click through for the looks that we feel would make a fitting addition to Meghan’s tour wardrobe.

GIVENCHY
From her wedding to her first official outing with the Queen and her first solo engagement, Meghan’s go-to designer – Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy – has seen her through many iconic moments. This caped, double-breasted ensemble would be perfect for the suit-loving royal on a night out Down Under.

3.1 PHILLIP LIM
The Duchess of Sussex isn’t one for loud prints or too much volume – she prefers to stand out courtesy of thoughtful tailoring and striking cuts. Already a fan of Phillip’s bags, this city-girl-on-vacation gown with slits and a criss-crossed bodice would be just the sartorial ticket for a chic beach outing.

MAX MARA
With her classic style, this Italian label with a focus on timeless designs is the perfect fit for the newest member of the royal family – especially the spring collection, which put ‘80s power women in the spotlight. This safari-suiting look is just flawless for exploring the outback.

VICTORIA BECKHAM
Meghan has been wearing the former Spice Girl’s label since her days as Rachel Zane on Suits. The former actress and designer have struck up a friendship, as both women share a love of sharp silhouettes, tailored pantsuits and statement dresses that emphasize simplicity and elegance.

CHANEL
She’s known to love the French fashion house’s makeup and Gabrielle Hobo Bag, but it could be time for the duchess to debut a full look. This chic, summery jumpsuit would be perfection on Meghan, especially with wide legs offering the illusion of a shirtdress (one of her go-tos) and her beloved belted waist.

DEREK LAM
One way the designer would surely win the duchess over is in his use of eco-fabrics and yarns from renewable forests. This design also calls to mind the pretty dress with pleated skirt that the style icon wore to a friend’s wedding this summer, making it the perfect wardrobe update.

PETER PILOTTO
Meghan’s sartorial choices have subtly paid homage to her new home across the pond, and cool British label Peter Pilotto may be next in line to win her seal of approval. We predict she’ll start with a smartly tailored striped pantsuit, a style that’s been worn by Beyonce and Lady Kitty Spencer in lilac.

TOD’S
Why not kick her love of buttery leather up to the next level? Tod’s wasn’t afraid to, even for the summer months. Another take on the simple shirtdress, Meghan would surely shine in this oversized leather design, with its effortlessly chic and slouchy rolled sleeves and curved hemline.

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI
While she’s proven her love of black suits, the Duchess of Sussex is yet to wear a white two-piece – and this tour could be just the time! As a royal she’s also never worn the French designer, whose coterie of Valli girls includes her gal pal Amal Clooney.

JASON WU
The Canadian-Taiwanese designer is a go-to for Prince Harry’s leading lady, who has worn blue dresses by Jason on two occasions this year. Combining her love of power suiting and shirt dresses, this pinstriped look with delicate lace along the hemline should be a shoo-in for Meghan’s first tour.

ROLAND MOURET
The French designer – creator of sexy silhouettes like his signature “Galaxy” dress – has known Meghan for many years. The luxe label is a good bet as a fixture in the 37-year-old’s tour trunks, especially spring’s relaxed and deconstructed silhouettes.

ROKSANDA
At one time tipped to design Meghan’s bridal gown, Roksanda is no stranger to royal commissions and counts Kate as a fan. For spring, the designer used an earthy colour palette and we can already see the brunette beauty in the billowy belted dress and lightweight trench coat, the epitome of poise and elegance.

CHRISTIAN DIOR
This belted navy shirt dress reminds us of the one Meghan wore at the Royal Foundation Forum earlier this year, but with impeccable Dior tailoring and a netted underlay to offer a hint of edge – maybe for her speech at the University of the South Pacific or an official welcome at one of the four cities on the couple’s itinerary?

BOSS
The Duchess of Sussex wore a green leather Boss skirt to raves for a day exploring her namesake county of Sussex, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her in the German label once again. Another fresh take on her suiting fancy, this pink ensemble could be worn with a simple camisole, blouse or even something dressier for evening.
