Duchess Kate did something she's long mastered for her first joint outing with Prince William since the couple welcomed their third child, Prince Louis – she shopped her closet! Plucking out one of her favourite Emilia Wickstead designs, the mother of three looked radiant in lilac as she attended her second engagement since wrapping her maternity leave, the Global Mental Health Summit. The initiative looks to improve the mental health of people around the world, a cause close to the stylish royal's heart.
The pretty, pastel fit-and-flare design will surely look familiar to the Duchess of Cambridge's fashion-savvy fans, as she first wore the dress by the British label while on tour in Germany in 2017. While exploring Hamburg and checking out helicopters with her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Kate styled the number quite similarly with her nude suede Gianvito Rossi pumps and her brown locks in soft waves. At the summit, the 36-year-old also carried a chic handbag by Aspinal of London, the top-handled Mayfair, which boasts a $1300 price tag.
Emilia Wickstead was wrapped up in a bit of controversy following Prince Harry and Meghan's royal wedding, when she reportedly indicated that the royal bride's Givenchy gown was a copy of one of her designs and didn't fit right. The New Zealand-born designer later made a statement supporting the Duchess of Sussex, saying, "Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex, looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day and I have the utmost admiration and respect for her. I do not think that her wedding dress was a copy of any of our designs. I have the greatest respect for Clare Waight Keller and the House of Givenchy – a huge source of inspiration to me." Meghan has since worn one of Emilia's designs while in Dublin this summer, so it seems the Royal Family's fashionable women aren't holding any grudges.
The summit marks Kate's second official engagement since returning from her time off with Prince Louis, who will be six months old on Oct. 23. The royal's first outing was decidedly more casual as she visited the Sayers Croft Forest School to get her hands dirty with an adorable gaggle of children in the school's garden last week. The duchess also pulled some favourites from her closet for her grand return, including the Penelope Chilvers boots she's been wearing for 14 years. She paired them with a Fjallraven jacket, Joseph Rainer blouse, a cozy sweater and her favourite Zara motorcycle boots. One thing that was definitely new was her shorter hairstyle with copper lowlights, which gave fans a major dose of fall hair inspiration.
