Meghan Markle and Serena Williams have made no secret of their love and respect for one another, celebrating each others' wins and projects and supporting one another in times of need. While on a high-profile tour Down Under, the newly pregnant duchess donned a piece from her bestie's fashion brand, Serena - and she's now the label's homepage star!
For a day of engagements in Dubbo, Australia, the 37-year-old slipped into a pair of black Outlander jeans, a white button-up shirt by Maison Kitsune, black suede boots from J. Crew and the $188 Serena Boss Blazer - a grey blazer checked in red and blue with oversized pockets that has since sold out. A photo of Meghan wearing the chic topper is now on the homepage at serenawilliams.com alongside the words, "A TRAIL BLAZER In the Serena Boss Blazer" and a call to shop the collection.
The tennis ace also took to Instagram to share her excitement over the mom-to-be donning her design. "The face you make when you and Duchess of Sussex Meghan have matching @serena blazers #BeSeenBeHeard Link in bio to shop the collection!" she captioned a gallery with two photos - one of Prince Harry's wife holding his hand as she wears the stylish jacket and another of Serena in the same piece looking ecstatic as she smiles with her eyes closed.
Fans have had mixed reactions to Serena's post, with some thrilled to see two strong women getting behind each others' causes. "Yasss good friends supporting each other. So beautiful to witness," said one commenter, while another gushed, "You ladies are so amazing... So glad the youngsters have ladies like you to look up to." Others worried that the 37-year-old entrepreneur is using their friendship to sell clothes. "I hope Kensington Palace or Duchess Meghan asks Serena to remove the posting. It's different when a company or person who doesn't have a personal connection to the Royal uses it as a marketing tool, but considering how close Serena and her are, it doesn't sit well with me."
Back in September, Serena took to Instagram to celebrate Meghan's first solo charity project, Together: Our Community Cookbook. "I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex your first project “Together” a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together. I could not be more excited about it and proud of you," she captioned a photo of the book's cover. "It’s beautiful - diversity, inclusivity, coming together in grief or joy - there is just so much love. Link in bio to learn more, and how you can get a copy!"
