Doria Ragland has officially claimed the title of Mom of the Year – and it’s been quite the year for her! Before watching her daughter walk down the aisle, say “I do” to Prince Harry and become the Duchess of Sussex , she obviously needed the perfect outfit. And the designers behind her Oscar de la Renta design have singing her praises, revealing Doria’s sweet gesture each time she came for a fitting.

According to Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the talented team behind the luxury brand founded by the late Dominican designer, Doria used to bring them snacks! Healthy ones, of course … “It wasn’t cookies,” Laura shared with Buro of the longtime yogi and runner, “It was very thought out.” Their exciting experience designing for the royal wedding first came about when the co-creative directors received a “very exciting” email from the duchess’s assistant: “We flew to LA to meet Doria and she brought us snacks to the fitting,” Fernando shared. “She’s so sweet,” Laura gushed. “Her snacks were so cute, too!” Once a mom, always a mom!

Given that Meghan chose British designer Clare Waight Kellar for Givenchy to craft her look that day, representing her new home country, she wanted an American label to be in the mix, too. That’s what led the former actress to the brand, as she counts Oscar de la Renta as one of her go-to designers (and recently wore the label while on tour in Sydney !). “She wanted to have an American designer represented in the royal wedding because she’s American,” Fernando explained. And Doria had her say in the ultimate look, as well. “We gave her two options, given the weather, and she went with the pistachio colour,” he added.

But leading up to the ceremony, they weren’t sure what was actually going to happen. “The Palace went a little radio silent a few days before the ceremony because they were so overwhelmed with work I’m sure, so we didn’t actually know it if was going ahead,” Fernando shared. “We usually get a stylist confirming that someone is wearing the look but we really were in the dark here and hoping for the best.” As it turned out, the mother of the bride truly dazzled in a the stunning dress, coat and fascinator ensemble that perfectly showed off her chic and elegant demeanor.
