Fashion trends may come and go, but some things are truly timeless – and sometimes the best ones come from your mom’s closet! Crown Princess Victoria did just that at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm on Monday evening (Dec. 10), recreating Queen Silvia’s glamorous look from the same event in 1995.
The Swedish royals were out in full force last night, making an uber-glamorous appearance in some of their most high-fashion looks yet! Of course, Victoria turned many heads as she glided down the marble staircase of the Concert Hall in her mom’s vintage Nina Ricci ballgown, which features a strapless pink and gold bodice with a full silver skirt and an oversized bow in the back. She paired the colourful number with a sleek updo and topped it off with the ‘Forget-Me-Not’ Connaught Tiara by E. Wolff & Co.
It’s a lovely tribute to the matriarch of the family, who looked just as stunning as her daughter in the same outfit more than 20 years ago. In the original photo, Queen Silvia can be seen walking down the staircase arm in arm with her husband, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Eagle-eyed royal watchers who look closely enough at the original photo may have noticed a gorgeous Princess Victoria following closely in the background, clad in a red gown and daintier tiara.
While the beautiful homage was certainly something to be admired, there were a few other notable fashion statements that happened that evening! Queen Silvia made jaws drop in her gorgeous green off-the-shoulder lace gown, paired with an emerald statement necklace and a dazzling tiara. Meanwhile, Princess Sofia stunned in a bright-red, figure-hugging gown, which boasted embellished shoulders and a unique high-slit draped sleeve. She accessorized with a thick pearl choker necklace and a delicate tiara.
One key member of the family was missing, though, who is a staple at the annual affair. Princess Madeleine recently moved to Miami, Florida, with her husband, Chris O’neill, and three children. While the royal mom and her brood must be enjoying the heat and sunshine, Victoria has opened up about missing her sister, saying how “awful” it is to be so far away from her.
