While her brother- and- sister-in-law were debuting Baby Sussex to the world, Duchess Kate stepped out with Prince William in Wales. The Duchess of Cambridge looked relaxed and stylish in a black turtleneck, black skinny jeans, a red double-breasted blazer by Philosophy and black boots. The mom of three opted for drop earrings and a black clutch as accessories, and left her hair tied back in a ponytail.
Kate and William were in Caernarfon to meet with the local coastguard and see the helicopter rescue base. They got a special tour of the coastguard’s new helicopters and then spoke with first responders about the mental health challenges they face.
Mental wellness issues are incredibly important to Kate and William, along with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. In 2016, William, Harry and Kate founded Heads Together in an effort to break down mental health stigma and encourage people to speak out about what they’re going through or have experienced.
After that visit, the duke and duchess were scheduled to head to Halen Môn Anglesey Sea Salt and Newborough Beach, where the Menai Bridge Scouts were set to show them the beach’s habitat.
Caenarfon, located on the north Welsh coast, is just across from the island of Anglesey, which is very familiar territory for William and Kate. The couple lived there from 2010 until their return to London in 2013. Before they moved to London, William said he and his wife would miss their first marital home “terribly.” He continued: “I know that I speak for Catherine when I say I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey.”
This was William and Kate’s second engagement this week. On Tuesday (May 7), they stepped out to the Cutty Sark to launch The King’s Cup Regatta. Kate looked incrediblly happy and chose a nautical-themed outfit for the event, which was to promote a sailing competition that will benefit eight of the charities of which she and Prince William are patrons.
