Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards celebrates the great white north’s veterans and newcomers

The Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards brought some stylish flair to Toronto on May 30!
Designers, influencers, stylists and creators were honoured with some of the biggest awards in the country, recognizing their talent and creativity on the scene.
Plenty of Canadian TV personalities and big names such as Jessica Mulroney also brought some red carpet fire to the event, which honours the best in fashion that the true north has to offer.

Part of the show featured a hilarious montage of the former co-host of MTV's The After Show being "dressed" by a crew.

Designer Sid Neigum won the Womenswear Designer of the Year award. This is not his first CAFA - in 2015, he won the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award, which came with a $10,000 prize.
This year, Sid also picked up the Suzanne Rogers Designer Grant for International Development, presented by Rogers. The award comes with a $20,000 prize.
Sid has dressed celebrities such as Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, Jennifer Aniston, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Kim Cattrall and Jessi and Coco Rocha. The latter two celebs were in attendance at the May 30 event.

Vancouver's Christopher Bates won the Menswear Designer of the Year award. The Milan-based designer has dressed celebrities such as Hockey Night in Canada's Ron MacLean and Star Wars actor John Boyega.
Christopher chose a simple blue and black suit with black shoes for his CAFA gala look.

Chilliwack, B.C. native Tasha Tilberg won the Model of the Year award. She's known for her work with designers such as Gucci, Versace, Fendi, Bloomingdale's, Moschino, Esprit and more, and was previously a spokesperson for CoverGirl.

Aurora James of Brother Vellies won the International Canadian Designer award. She recently dressed Nicki Minaj for the Met Gala.

Model Krow Kian (left), who is just 23 years old, was named Fresh Face of the Year. Sangita Patel presented him with his trophy.
Krow is transgender and worked in the industry while still living as a woman before he came out and began transitioning.
"There is definitley a lack of trans-male models," he told CBC of his award. "So to be representing people from all around the world and from the trans community has been just amazing to be ... that role model for people."

Cary Tauben, who has worked with models like Coco Rocha, Irina Lazeraneau and Heather Marks, was named Stylist of the Year. He certainly brought some glamour and shine to his look! He chose a gold jackt and matching bloots with silver trousers for the event.

Montreal's Marie-Ève Lecavalier won the Emerging Talent, Fashion award.

Photographer Douglas Kirkland was honoured for his incredible career with the outstanding achievement award. He has worked with celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie.

Corey Moranis, who designs handcrafted Lucite jewellery and accessories, won the Emerging Talent, Accessories award.

Toronto-based jewellery designer Dean Davidson was named Accessory Designer of the Year.

Hung Vanngo (left), who once came to Canada as a refugee, was named Makeup Artist of the Year. Actress Sarah Gadon presented him with the award.

Instagram influencers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran - collectively known as Fecal Matter - (left and centre) were given the Digital Fashion Influencer of the Year award.

Plenty of influencers, designers and stars were also on hand for the event! Fresh off a visit to the UK to meet Archie Harrison and see new mom Duchess Meghan was Jessica Mulroney. The stylist chose a peach gown with long, ruffled sleeves for the event.
