The mother-daughter duo turned heads while attending The Lion King premiere in Hollywood on July 9. Decked from head-to-toe in crystals and jewels, the singer’s structured Alexander McQueen dress perfectly matched what her seven-year-old daughter was wearing. They made quite the stylish pair as they glided down the carpet, with the mom of three in matching glittery sandals and her first-born in sweet black flats.
Beyoncé’s bespoke blazer-dress, fixed with crystals, featured a mesh train that mirrored the one Blue wore. The pop star accessorized with a large crystal necklace and drop earrings, her hair beautifully braided close to her head to show off a stunning smoky makeup look. Ivy sported a black blazer dress with embellished shoulders, and wore two buns on the top of her head, wrapped in pearls – the perfect topper to a show-stopping ensemble!
The festivities proved to also be a Destiny’s Child reunion! Her former bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, with son Titan in tow, were on have to celebrate their friend’s achievement, too.
There’s always buzz around the Carter family, but Beyoncé has been especially in the limelight lately with the release of the live-action version of the classic '90s film. The first version came out in 1994, and the reboot of the animal-centric film stars the “Single Ladies” singer as Nala, Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogan as Pumbaa, funnyman Billy Eichner as Timon and more big names. The film will be released on July 19 in Canada, and boasts an incredible soundtrack by some of the music industry’s biggest stars to date.
“This is sonic cinema,” Beyoncé said in a statement about the film. “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn't one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, hip-hop and Afro Beat.
“I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline. Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.”
Speaking of the songs, Beyoncé also dropped a new single on July 9 in connection with The Lion King’s release. “Spirit” is a new tune that sees her encouraging the listener to keep going and push through adversity.
This new single wasn’t unexpected. Director Jon Favreau, who also produced the film, told fans that Beyoncé would drop new material in connection with the film’s release.
“There’s a song that she performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who’s part of it with Hans Zimmer,” he said to Fandango in June. “They were all collaborating with her and helping to bring this new piece of music into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. So it was nice of them to have them working with her to allow the new song to feel organically a part of the new production.”

The Disney film’s release follows an incredible year for the star, who made history as the first Black woman to headline Coachella back in 2018. Months after she and husband Jay-Z welcomed their two-year-old twins Sir and Rumi, she hit the ground running to prepare for the biggest annual musical event, proving that she's a force to be reckoned with.
