The Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement ring is easily one of the most coveted in the world, and eight years after she first donned the stunning blue sapphire ring in public, Marks & Spencer has crafted a knockoff that’ll have people thinking you’re wearing the exact same bling!

The Platinum Plated Cocktail Ring is available for international shipping on M&S’s website for just $45.

“With its decadent shimmer and striking gem centrepiece, this ring was made for special occasions,” the description notes.

It goes on to detail the look and feel of the ring, which is oval and has a “prong set of stones” set in a “smooth platimum plated” band. The ring is part of Marks & Spencer’s Skin Kind line of jewellery, meaning it is hypoallergenic. The retailer says it “goes beyond normal hypoallergenic standards, so it’s even kinder to sensitive skin.”

Kate was given the iconic piece of jewellery back in 2010 when Prince William popped the question. It had originally belonged to his mother Princess Diana and features a 12-carat sapphire surrounded by 14 diamonds set in 18-carat white gold.

According to Reader’s Digest, the ring has been valued at the equivalent of a jaw-dropping $481,000. Vogue reports the design may have been inspired by a lavish royal gift from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria in the mid-19th century. It was originally a sapphire and diamond brooch, and the queen wore it on her wedding day.

“[The brooch] was said to be a strong influence on Prince Charles when he came to Garrard to purchase a ring for Lady Diana. He actually ended up setting a sapphire cluster ring for her, which was later given by Prince William to the Duchess of Cambridge on their engagement,” Sara Prentice, Garrard’s creative director, told Vogue.

“I would imagine growing up being surrounded by your mother and your grandmother [with] such beautiful, incredible jewellery… it would stick with you.”

After they wed, William gave Kate the matching pair of diamond and sapphire earrings that also belonged to Diana. The duchess has since had them remodelled into drop earrings.
