Duchess Kate’s Pakistan royal tour wardrobe caused huge sales for designer Maheen Khan

Both Duchess Kate and Prince William drew rave reviews for their sartorial choices while on tour in Pakistan back in October, with the Duchess of Cambridge looking gorgeous at every engagement and the Duke being praised for rocking a traditional sherwani. As we know, Kate often prompts items she wears to sell out, and a new report says that was also the case in Pakistan.

Kate was pictured wearing styles from Maheen Khan on several occasions, including her visit to Lahore’s iconic Badshahi Mosque, in which she wore a gorgeous turquoise, gold-embroidered shalwar kameez and headscarf from the designer.

That outfit in particular caused a run on sales, Maheen recently told BBC Asian Network while she was in London. According to UAE-based website Masala!, the designer said clients came to her asking for the exact same look. But given she had specially created it for the duchess, she didn’t replicate it exactly and made some changes to similar looks she created for those who had seen Kate wearing it.

Kate stepped out in one of Maheen’s designs on her second day in Pakistan, wearing a blue embroidered silk kurta – a traditional combination of a shirt overtop of trousers – for a visit to a school in Islamabad. She later wore cream pants by the designer for a visit to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, which she paired with a green Catherine Walker tunic, navy flats and a scarf by Satrangi.

She wore a shawl by Maheen when she arrived at Lahore’s airport on Oct. 17, which she later donned to play cricket at the National Cricket Academy, and then made jaws drop with her gorgeous turquoise look for her visit to the mosque.

We’ll next see Kate when she attends a banquet for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace with the Queen on Dec. 3. Heads of state including US President Donald Trump are also scheduled to be there. Since the event is a banquet, Kate will likely be wearing a tiara!
