Duchess Kate didn’t wear a tiara to the NATO reception on Dec. 3 at Buckingham Palace, but her look still had plenty of sparkle. The Duchess of Cambridge borrowed Her Majesty’s dazzling teardrop earrings for the occasion.
Kate already captivated royal watchers with her vivid emerald green gown by Emilia Wickstead. But the diamond earrings really helped her push it over the top and made it even more striking, which was fitting considering she was helping welcome guests including US President Donald Trump, US First Lady Melania Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the Palace!
The intricate earrings didn't go unnoticed despite Kate wearing her hair down. Her shiny brunette waves were tucked behind her ears, so the Queen’s baubles were still evident.
The elegant, showstopping style features a flower-shaped stud with drop design. It’s thought the earrings were refashioned from a brooch worn by Her Majesty’s grandmother, Queen Mary.
Kate has worn some incredible pieces of jewelry, but these sparklers appear to be a favourite! Interestingly, they are a fairly recent addition to the Queen’s personal jewelry collection. Her Majesty was first seen wearing the earrings at the State Opening of Parliament in 2012.
Kate has a long history of borrowing pieces from the Queen’s special collection. In the case of the earrings, the mom of three wore them on a few occasions, including the Place2Be Wellbeing in School Awards in 2016, followed by the Anna Freud Centre Gala Dinner in 2017.
And we got to see the jewels again at this fabulous outing!
The day after Kate joined the Queen, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla and Princess Anne at the Palace, she stepped out to help children pick Christmas trees on Dec. 4! The event was held on behalf of her newest patronage, Family Action, which helps underprivileged kids and families access resources.
Kate kept things casual and added a holiday touch to her outfit, sporting a warm red puffer jacket from Perfect Moment, a green sweater from Really Wild, blue jeans and hiking boots from Berghaus. We loved seeing the mom of three bring tidings of joy to kids’ lives!
