Kate back home to face police quiz

After a busy evening spent fulfilling a promise to co-operate with police over drug allegations, a sombre-looking Kate Moss retired to the relative peace of her Cotswolds mansion on Tuesday. Bypassing journalists camped outside the farmhouse in Little Farringdon, the supermodel gazed straight ahead as she swept through the gates in a chauffeur-driven limo. An assistant later told reporters: "Kate's safely tucked up in bed and has nothing to say".

The supermodel did, however, speak with Scotland Yard detectives during a 90-minute meeting with her lawyers present. Newspaper reports say that on legal advice she refused to answer certain questions.

Croydon-born Kate had flown back to the UK on a private jet from France, where she'd been on an assignment for US magazine W. She was immediately taken to Wellington House, a police office block in central London.

In a statement her agency Storm made it clear the model had not been arrested. "She voluntarily reported to the police to assist their investigation as she has always said she would when she returned to this country."

After reports of her drug use surfaced last year, the 32-year-old went into rehab in Arizona and has since rebuilt her career. She now appears to be planning a return to Los Angeles, where she has rented a home and enrolled her three-year-old daughter, Lila Grace, in nursery school.
