Denzel Washington definitely knows how to take on an action-packed role, and he does so once again as an ex-CIA agent defending a young girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) from the Russian mob in The Equalizer.
Charitable Celebrities: Artists for Peace and Justice Gala, 6 p.m., Casa Loma
The annual benefit returns, marking its sixth year at the film festival to raise funds and awareness for Paul Haggis’ Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ), an international charity organization that funds youth education, health and dignity initiatives in Haiti. Past guests have included Gerard Butler, Olivia Wilde, Adrien Brody and Colin Firth.
Movie Star Mayhem: Entertainment One Party, 9 – 11 p.m., Moss Park Armoury (By Invitation Only)
Entertainment One (eOne) has a lot to celebrate, since it has 19 films at this year’s festival. To celebrate, stars will flock to the Moss Park Armoury to sip fancy cocktails and mingle with industry elite. Confirmed guests already include Sarah Gadon, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Atom Egoyan and David Cronenberg.
