Toronto said “Hello!” to Hollywood’s Top 25 New Stars with a glittering TIFF party held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Long considered one of the buzziest bashes of the Toronto International Film Festival, a who's who of heavy hitters from the worlds of fashion, film, television and sports made for a fête that will not soon to be forgotten.
TIFF’s rising stars – including Shannon Kook, Alexandre Landry, Julia Sarah Stone and Sophie Desmarais – made their dazzling debuts, walking the red carpet among industry heavyweights like the Revenge’s Madeleine Stowe, actor Jason Priestly, director Paul Haggis and Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore.
Meanwhile, Canada's former Bachelor Brad Smith swapped stories with this season's bachelor, Tim Warmels, before cracking jokes with comedian Gerry Dee and chatting with tennis star Milos Raonic and rapper Kardinall Offishall.
Inside the ballroom, guests proudly showed off their fancy footwear for the Browns Shoes shoe cam – including Hello! Editor-In-Chief Alison Eastwood, who made it through the evening in a pair of sky-high, peep-toed platforms (which, she said, combined "all the things I love: a wedge, a platform, a peep toe and a mary jane!")
Celebrities sipped on O.N.E. Coconut water and Stolichnya cocktails, Proof whisky, Peroni premium beer and Aviation gin tipples while nibbling on a dizzying array of sweet and savoury treats - including mini-sliders, fried dumplings, spuds from the mashed potato bar, sweets from the candy stand and movie-ready popcorn.
And just in case the DJ – who spun at an ice-sculptured booth on top of the bar – wasn’t entertainment enough, an impromptu Sherway Gardens fashion show saw models in sequined gowns posing on platforms while onlookers watched, mesmerized.
As the soirée wound down, guests snacked on The Skinny Cow ice cream bars being handed out by gorgeous male models, while other stars took advantage of our Next Issue photo booth — whose pictures became decidedly goofier as the evening progressed.
At the end of the night, partygoers were gifted with swag bags filled to the brim with premium goodies.
Until next year, TIFF!
