In Photos: Royals at the movies

Royals like Prince William, Kate, the Queen and Prince Charles share an interest in global culture – and that includes a longtime love of film. As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend the premiere of the latest James Bond film, Spectre, the couple once again shows their interest in the medium's major moments (and they're not the first royals to see a Bond film premiere, either!)

Aside from an afternoon BAFTA screening on October 26, hours before Daniel Craig, Monica Bellucci and more hit the red carpet for Spectre, the last time Prince George and Princess Charlotte's parents attended a high-profile screening was the UK and European premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom in December 2013. It was there that the couple met actress Naomie Harris, who also stars in the 24th Bond film.

Royal Albert Hall, where Spectre makes its world premiere, has hosted many a royal for various films. In 2012, Prince Charles and Camilla attended the premiere of Skyfall and chatted with stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. But the most popular venue is the Odeon Leicester Square, where King George VI and Queen Elizabeth took in Hamlet in 1948 and Princess Diana saw Octopussy in 1983.

So we're grabbing a bucket of popcorn and taking a look back at British royals and their unwavering love of film.
