Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are shooting an independent film project in Malta this August

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their six children are heading to Malta this August.

According to reports, the Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars will be shooting on location for eight weeks for a yet-to-be-named film that’s reportedly based on a script that Angelina wrote herself.

Filming will take place in Mgarr ix-Xini Bay in Gozo, but few other details have been confirmed.

The A-list couple was in Malta in 2011 when Brad was shooting World War Z, and the country could not be happier with their return. Joseph Muscat, the country's Prime Minister, told Us Weekly, “I’m happy that Hollywood producers have once again chosen Malta for their project, and we will be delighted to host Mr. Pitt, Ms. Jolie, and their family for the second time in just a few years.”

Of the film, Angelina discussed the project as an opportunity to pursue a feature the couple would otherwise not get a chance to take part in.

“It’s not a big movie, it’s not an action movie. It’s the kind of movie we love but aren’t often cast in. It’s a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things,” the 39-year-old actress told Extra.

Since her summer blockbuster Maleficent premiered in theatres this year, there isn’t much to see of the actress until 2015. Angelina will reprise her roles in both Kung Fu Panda 3 and Salt 2, while Brad, 50, can be seen in David Ayer’s upcoming film, Fury, alongside Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman.
