Lorde to curate ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ soundtrack

Lorde has landed a huge musical role in the upcoming Hunger Games film.

Not only will the New Zealand singer provide the title song for The Hunger Games: MockingjayPart 1 soundtrack, but she will also curate the entire album by personally choosing each track.


"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," Lorde said in a statement.

"The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people," she added.

The Pure Heroine songstress seems like an obvious choice for the gig – Lorde’s dark, gothy sensibilities may lend themselves well to the film’s dystopian tone, while the “pure heroine”/Katniss connection cannot be ignored.

Additionally, Lorde’s "Everybody Wants To Rule The World” was previously featured on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 1hits theatres on Nov. 21. The soundtrack is due out sometime this fall.
