10 of Jimmy Fallon’s best moments on his 40th birthday

Jimmy Fallon's hilarious roster of celebrity-driven sketches on The Tonight Showhave done wonders to revive the late-night staple.

The comedian and master of impressions, who turns 40 today, joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1998 and stayed for six years, retiring his spot in 2004. From there, he took on the silver screen in films like Fever Pitch, continued with his stand-up career and hosted the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

In 2009, Jimmy launched his Emmy Award-winning Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, which aired until this year, when the comedian had the biggest break of his career: Jay Leno announced he was leaving The Tonight Show and the then-39-year-old was tapped to replace him! What followed? Oh, just Barbra Streisand doing her first Tonight Show interview in 50 years (and so much more!).

And now, without further adieu, let's have a look - and a laugh! - at some of Jimmy’s most hilarious on-screen moments.

Let’s count them down!

10. Celebrity Jeopardy

While Darrell Hammond's Sean Connery is the first character that comes to mind in this ongoing Saturday Night Live sketch, we think Jimmy’s impression of Adam Sandler and his comedy style is spot on and hilarious.

9. Ew!

Teen culture is the fodder for this winning sketch, where Jimmy plays an adolescent talk show host who interviews Michelle Obama . (The real Michelle Obama, who insists you call her “Michelle.”)

8. History of Rap

The late-show host takes every opportunity to show off his pipes, and why wouldn’t he? The man can sing! That’s made quite evident in his “History of Rap” segment, where he revisits the back catalogue of rap music with Justin Timberlake.

7. Jersey Floor

Jersey Shore was ripe for parody in “Jersey Floor,” a sketch featuring an elevator that takes you to a floor in the NBC building that transforms you into a Jersey Shore-like character.

6. Downton Sixbey

Popular culture is Jimmy’s bag and it is tackled wonderfully in this cheeky take on Downton Abbey. Following the formula of the original, “Downton Sixbey” features an ensemble cast of period characters - but rather than keeping house, they’re preparing late show monologues.

5. Jimmy Fallon’s SNL Audition

Jimmy’s impressions won the room over at his Saturday Night Live audition, andit's easy to see why. His John Travolta is uncanny!

4. The 2010 Emmys opening skit

Betty White plays a sassy dance coach, Tina Fey and Jimmy get a slushie thrown at them by Jane Lynch and they, along with the cast of Glee, perform Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.” It’s cinematic and amazing.

3. The Barry Gibb Talk Show with Justin Timberlake

Jimmy plays a wildly spastic Barry Gibb in this SNL sketch and the laughs do not stop. Not just anyone could yell at Madonna, but he does, and is then put in his place: “She’s taming me like a wild horse,” he says.

2. Jimmy Fallon vs. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber starts off this sketch by calling Jimmy "grandpa.” This inspires a series of challenges to determine who is better: Justin or Jimmy.

1. Jeffrey’s

Some of Jimmy Fallon’s most endearing moments came when he broke character. Not everyone could do that and win people over, but somehow he just made you love him.
