Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany rubbed elbows with Hollywood’s elite as she made her debut at the SAG Awards on Sunday (Jan. 25). Nominated for Best Actress in a Drama, the Canadian stunner held her own on the red carpet in a striped black-and-white Oscar de la Renta gown, as her longtime boyfriend, Downton Abbey star Tom Cullen, escorted her to the A-list event.
Although she had topped off her glamorous look with a sleek ponytail and a pop of red lipstick, there was one beauty detail that the down-to-earth actress had forgotten to attend to. When asked to do E!’s “Mani-Cam,” Tatiana sheepishly revealed she hadn’t had time to get her nails done – instead, she gave the Mani-Cam a thumbs-up!
Despite her un-manicured fingernails, the Canadian Screen Award-winner wasted no time in mingling with some of the night's most polished stars, posing on the red carpet with Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and Shameless Beauty star Emmy Rossum, among others.
"I'm so new to this whole thing," the Regina, Saskatchewan-native told to E!'s Maria Menounos, who gushed about her performance on Orphan Black. "It's a whole other thing entirely, we don't really have the star system in Canada. We’re a bit low-key about it. It's very surreal."
Although she didn’t win in her category (Viola Davis took home the statue for her role in How to Get Away With Murder), it’s nonetheless been a very exciting week for the 29-year-old actress. Last Thursday, the City of Regina announced that it will name a new street after the actress.
Meanwhile, sci-fi series Orphan Black returns for a third season on April 18.
