Jamie Dornan speaks to reports that he's leaving 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Jamie Dornan is not leaving Fifty Shades of Grey, though no sequel has been confirmed. Fans had a meltdown on social media following claims that the handsome Irish actor will be “walking away” from the steamy franchise, reportedly due to his wife Amelia Warner’s discomfort with the film's themes, but their concerns were seemingly unfounded.

“All press reports are pure conjecture as the studio has not committed to a sequel yet,” a rep for the 32-year-old has since confirmed.

Jamie Dornan has admitted wife Amelia Warner hasn’t watched Fifty Shades

Jamie recently spoke of his wife’s discomfort in an interview with the Evening Standard. “(Amelia) hasn’t seen the film and I don’t think she will, to be honest,” he revealed. “I’d understand if she didn’t want to.”

Although the studio has “not committed” to a follow-up of the first movie, both Jamie and his co-star Dakota Johnson are contracted to appear in any sequels. And, given the box office success of the raunchy film, that seems more likely than not.

Fifty Shades of Grey has taken $400million worldwide since its release on Valentine’s weekend, and has been riding high at both the UK and US box offices.

Jamie isn’t the only one to have been the subject of quitting rumours though. There has been speculation that director Sam Taylor-Johnson is bowing out of the franchise after her relationship with the book’s author E.L. James became “toxic”.

“Sam won’t be back for the Fifty Shades sequels,” a source told the Sun. “She wants out and Universal knows that’s the right decision. Her relationship with Erica has become toxic.”

While Sam has refuted the claims, again stating that the studio is yet to green-light a sequel, she has previously spoken of her and Erica’s creative differences.

“We would have proper on-set barneys, and I’m not confrontational,” she has said. “But it was about finding a way between the two of us, satisfying her vision of what she’d written as well as my need to visualise this person on screen. But, you know, we got there.”
