It’s been 14 years since the cabins were cleaned out and the last of the sloppy joes were served at Camp Firewood – and now, the counsellors of Wet Hot American Summer are reuniting in the woods of Maine for more hilarious hijinks.
The follow-up to the hit 2001 cult film is finally returning to small screens, this time as an eight-episode series on Netflix – and Emmy-winning director David Wain says there may be even more summer camp to come!
“I think there’s plenty more to do. If it all works out, it’d be great,” he told EW.
David was reportedly amused by the idea that the improv-heavy ensemble would play even younger counselors than in the quirky original – this, despite the fact that all the original actors are now 14 years older.
The entire star-studded cast, including Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper,Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Janeane Garofalo , have signed on, along with famous newcomers Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Chris Pine , and Jason Schwartzmann.
In these Canadian exclusive promotional photos, fans can get a sneak peek of the highly anticipated reboot. The original film took place during the last day at a fictional Jewish summer camp in 1981. By contrast, the Netflix special – which premieres on July 31 – is set on the first day of camp.
The countdown to summer is on!
