Looking glamorous as ever, Caitlyn Jenner is featured in a new photo ahead of the Aug. 2 premiere of her documentary series, I Am Cait. Posing with her back to the camera and one hand on her hip, the 65-year-old is the picture of inner strength - which has served her well as she transitioned from Bruce Jenner and became a transgender icon. With her inner beauty comes outer beauty as well, her statuesque frame hugged by a gown cinched at the waist and with lace detailing on the back, her brown hair in a loose updo.
Caitlyn's confidence comes from within. Ever since identifying herself as transgender during an interview with Diane Sawyer – watched by 19-million viewers – the star has admitted she finally feels "free" to be her true self.
"To be able to wake up in the morning, be yourself, get dressed, get ready to go out and just be, like, a normal person – that's a wonderful feeling to go through life," she told Vanity Fair. "I've never been able to do that; it's always been confusion.
"It's always been, you know, I've got one side (of the closet) boy clothes, the other side's women's clothes. It's like I cleaned the whole closet out – the boy stuff is gone."
Fans will get a closer look inside Caitlyn's new life with her upcoming eight-part documentary series I am Cait, which premieres on E! on Sunday Aug. 2 at 9pm. On Monday, a new promo for the show was released, showing Caitlyn in tears as she shares her fears about her children and their feelings surrounding her new identity, saying: "I want them to be proud of their daddy."
The short video also shows the star meeting with her friends and family, and mentoring a group of transgender youths before sharing a group hug with them.
Caitlyn has already spoken about the inevitable criticism she will face for filming her journey. " I'm not doing it for money,” she said. "I'm doing it to help my soul and help other people. If I can make a dollar, I'm certainly not stupid. (I have) house payments and all that kind of stuff. I will never make an excuse for something like that.
"Yeah, this is a business… (but) you don't go out and change your gender for a television show."
As well as I Am Cait, Caitlyn is also documenting her new life with a series of blogs on WhoSay.com. In the first post published this week, she thanked fans for their support. "The response to my new journey has been overwhelmingly positive, and I'm eternally grateful for all of your sweet messages, letters and gifts," Caitlyn wrote.
"Up until now, I have totally isolated myself from the transgender community so I have a lot of catching up to do." She added: " Seeing how my new friends have overcome their adversities is such an inspiration. They are so well-adjusted and smart. I'll be sharing their stories here in the coming week, and I can't wait for you to get to know them. They are just like you and me."
