Ben Higgins walked away from the 11th season of The Bachelorette with a broken heart after failing to find love with Canadian beauty Kaitlyn Bristowe. But cupid hasn’t given up on the Colorado native just yet, as ABC has confirmed that the handsome single will get a second chance at love on the next season of The Bachelor.
The 26-year-old was an odds-on favourite to win the coveted role after his kind-hearted nature and optimistic outlook on love had viewers at home rooting for him to come out on top. Ben may not have been successful in winning Kaitlyn’s heart, but he managed to rally the support and admiration of many members of ‘Bachelor Nation’ – including one very famous face.
Self-professed Bachelor fan Amy Schumer made a guest appearance on Kaitlyn’s season and singled out Ben as a frontrunner. During Monday's (Aug. 24) episode of After Paradise, on which host Chris Harrison made the exciting casting announcement, Trainwreck’s leading lady called in to congratulate Ben on the honour. “I am so excited for you. I hope you find love!"she exclaimed. And according to Ben, he wouldn't turn down the chance to date the comedian. “I would love for her to come on the season,” he said during the show, “I think we should push for it. She’s hilarious. If she wanted to come out, I wouldn’t be against it.”
While fans wait patiently to see if Ben finds his happily ever after on the 20th edition of the dating show, they can find comfort in knowing that his broken heart didn’t go to waste. After letting him go, Kaitlyn went on to find love with her now-fiancé Shawn Booth. The blissfully happy couple have recently been spotted enjoying some much-needed private time in Kaitlyn’s hometown of Vancouver, and the ex-bachelorette admits she can’t wait to see her former beau in action, telling Variety, “I think he’s just God’s gift to women. Not sure why I didn’t’ see that, but, I mean, men, women, their dogs, they all love Ben H.”
