Chloë Grace Moretz has revealed some hair-raising details about her starring role in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic tale The Little Mermaid. The 18-year-old star said that, unlike Disney's flame-haired version of Ariel in the 1989 animated version, the upcoming film follows the book more closely.
"I'll actually have blond hair," she told Entertainment Tonight, adding, "We're going after the Hans Christian Andersen novel," which is why her strands won't be coloured. The Danish author of the fairytale envisioned a flaxen-haired mermaid, as shown in the original illustrations.
It's clear that Chloë is elated to play the well-known character. "When I got the call, I rolled the windows down in the car with my brother and we both screamed!" she said to reporters. "It was a very exciting moment!"

She has even posted photos in which she's clearly hard at work perfecting her oceanic moves. Over the weekend, Chloë shared a snap on Instagram saying, "These Pilates moves are getting very aquatic #MermaidMoves @physicalperfectionpilates #PhysicalPerfectionPilates"
The hotly anticipated movie has yet to begin shooting, though the If I Stay star has said the reinterpretation of the story will feature a more modern version of Ariel. "[We're] making it progressive for young women in this day and age."
In the meantime, we can expect to see more of the fashion muse walking the red carpet as she promotes several upcoming films, including Brain on Fire, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and The 5th Wave.
