Oscars 2016: The complete list of nominees

The Oscar nominations for 2016 have been announced – and Leonardo DiCaprio has received his fifth career nomination for acting (he was also up for a Best Picture trophy as a producer on 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street.) The Revenant star will go head to head with Bryan Cranston (Trumbo), Matt Damon (The Martian), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs) and last year's winner Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl). The women up for Best Actress are just as impressive, with Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) and Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) going for gold. Winners will be announced live from Los Angeles on Feb. 28.

The night's biggest prize - Best Picture - features eight remarkable and critically acclaimed movies, including Spotlight, The Revenant, Room, Brooklyn, The Big Short, Mad Max Fury Road, The Martian, Spotlight and Bridge of Spies.

Chris Rock will host the 88th edition of film's most prestigious night live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The comedian made his debut as master of ceremonies back in 2005. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian, he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!" said the show's producers.
