Ryan Reynolds received his first positive review for his new film, Deadpool, and it comes from a trustworthy source. “Best. Movie. Ever,” exclaimed Ryan’s wife, Blake Lively, on Instagram. The actress showed her support for her husband by attending a surprise screening of the superhero adventure in New York, and delighted fans with a hilarious post on social media.
Hundreds of fans attended the screening expecting to see a few scenes from the movie. But Ryan was waiting in the wings to preview the entire film. “Well that went well,” wrote the Vancouver native on Twitter.
Like many in the audience, Blake left the theatre praising the movie, which Ryan filmed last year in his hometown. Joking that she had to sit in the back, the All I See Is You star wrote, “I mean, who do I have to sleep with to get into this movie?!”

From making faux Bachelor-themed trailers to dressing up as his character for Halloween, the 39-year-old actor has used humour to promote the movie. “I’ve always loved Deadpool’s caustic wit,” he told Total Movie Magazine about his character, adding that he “loves the idea of humour as a terrible coping mechanism for other things.” Born Wade Wilson, Deadpool suffered a traumatic childhood and developed powers after undergoing experimental treatment for brain cancer.
One person who won’t be rushing to the theatre to see the film is Ryan and Blake’s one-year-old daughter, James. The movie has received an “R” rating, meaning the toddler will have to wait quite awhile before she sees her dad dressed as the masked crusader. Even then, Ryan doesn’t think his little girl will be in a hurry to watch it. “I know a lot of actors who have kids that are older and they never seem to care,” he told Toronto's Kiss 92.5 at the Toronto International Film Festival. “I just assume it’s going to be the same. They have enough of their parents. They’re not going to want to sit down for a movie and watch them for two hours!”
