Mariah Carey is about to get very real. The singer has confirmed that she has agreed to let cameras film her daily life for a new eight-part docuseries called Mariah’s World, set to debut later this year on E!. The show will follow the singer as she travels the world on her current Sweet Fantasy Tour and plans her summer wedding to James Packer.
“I’m excited to bring my fans into my life for the next journey I'm about to embark on,” declared Mariah via a press release. “I’m already having so much fun with this documentary and I know you will too. There is nothing like capturing these moments.”
The news comes on the heels of reports that Mariah and her billionaire beau will tie the knot in a private beachside ceremony in the Caribbean this summer. The couple became engaged in January when James presented his ladylove with a 35-karat engagement ring. Speaking with E! News about the engagement, Mariah gushed, "I'm feeling fantastic, better than ever,” before adding, “[The ring] is so heavy I can't lift my arm up!"
E!'s vice president of programming, Jeff Olde, revealed in a statement that the series will "present a unique, vulnerable and surprisingly humorous side to Mariah that her fans have never before seen while showcasing her unparalleled celebrity lifestyle filled with true glamour, maximum luxury and ultimate stardom." According to Jeff, recruiting the singer for the network's latest documentary project was a no brainer. "Mariah is one of the most captivating pop superstars of our time and one of the rare artists whose first name alone is instantly recognized around the globe."
