A love letter to the cult classics of the 1980s, Netflix's new series Stranger Things is a coming of age story set in the context of the disappearance of a young boy in Hawkins, Indiana. His mother, played by Winona Ryder, sets off to unearth the truth amid a web of government experiments, supernatural forces and the creepiest girl you may have ever seen. Ahead of the July 15 premiere, we've got an exclusive sneak peek at the first eight minutes of the premiere episode.
The series opens in November of 1983, where a monster-like creature snatches a lab technician in an undisclosed facility before the story opens on a group of young boys playing Dungeons & Dragons. As the boys bike home, one named Will Byers encounters a chilling figure before ultimately disappearing... into thin air. Conspiracy theories abound as the series progresses, with those close to Will and the local police finding themselves pulled into a terrifying world they never could have imagined.
David Harbour ( Black Mass) co-stars in the eight-part first season, written and directed by twin brothers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. Each hour-long episode also spotlights a host of young, up-and-coming actors, including Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Charlie Heaton, Caleb McLaughlin and Natalia Dyer. Stranger Things debuts in all territories where Netflix is available on July 15.
