After weeks of romance and dozens of dates, Jasmine Lorimer's quest to find true love came to an end last night in the dramatic season finale of The Bachelorette Canada. After saying goodbye to 19 bachelors, the 27-year-old was overcome with emotion as she handed out her final rose to Kevin Wendt.
Dressed in a floor-length white gown, the Kenora Ont.-native professed her love for Kevin before the handsome firefighter got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. An elated Jasmine happily accepted before taking a post-proposal stroll with her new fiancé along the beach in Cuba.
With every Bachelor/Bachelorette finale comes a runner up, and unfortunately for 28-year-old Mikel from Ottawa, it was his heart that left Cuba broken. As painful as it was to watch Jasmine say goodbye to the handsome suitor, former Bachelor contestant and FLARE columnist Sharlene Joynt points out that it could have been worse.
Often Bachelors and Bachelorettes let contestants propose before delivering bad news, but this was not how Jasmine handled the difficult exchange. "I love that [Jasmine] wasn’t able to keep a straight face long enough to let Mikhel even deliver his pre-proposal profession of love," notes Sharlene, adding that she has always appreciated the blond beauty's "brutal honesty."
After spending months in seclusion, Jasmine and Kevin were finally able to make their debut as a couple on After the Final Rose. During the show, the happy duo reflected on their journey together and shared their excitement over starting the next chapter of their fairytale.
