Royal fans can start the weekend on a high note as Lifetime has released the first teaser for Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, which dramatizes the couple's courtship. The 20-second clip shows a few key scenes from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship, from secretly getting to know one another to their trip to Botswana and even a glimpse of the prince's proposal. The movie is set to air at 8 pm on May 13, one week before the future bride and groom walk down the aisle at St George's Chapel on May 19.
The trailer opens with the former Suits star (played by Parisa Fitz-Henley) saying "tell me something real" as she and Harry (played by Murray Fraser) cozy up on a tufted couch. Then, as the two sit together in a glamorous tent that appears to be on their trip to Botswana, the 36-year-old says "I don't need my life to be this perfect royal picture." He continues, "I just need you" as he gets down on one knee and reveals a ring, to which his 36-year-old love appears shocked and delighted. A montage then reveals the couple holding hands amid a gorgeous hilly landscape before kissing and cuddling in bed.
On Tuesday (Mar. 13), fans got a first look at the 'fab four' in a pair of stills released from the film. While we've seen the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge out with Prince Harry and Meghan during official engagements like the Royal Foundation Forum and Commonwealth Day services, this image presented the quad enjoying themselves at a formal banquet, with Laura Mitchell and Burgess Abernethey playing the roles of Kate and William. The second photo shows the engaged couple dancing slow and close, something that's not hard to imagine of the highly affectionate pair.
Royal watchers have been following along excitedly as more details about Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance have slowly been revealed. In addition to their parents, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been cast and will be played by cuties Preston Karwat and Briella Weintraub respectively - though eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the movie's George wears pants in a promo photo whereas the prince only wears shorts in real life.
Bonnie Soper, an actress from New Zealand, will play the late Princess Diana, while Maggie Sullivan will step into the Queen's shoes. Filming is well underway in Vancouver.
