Roseanne on whether George Clooney will return to the sitcom and his best on-set pranks

Before skyrocketing to stardom, George Clooney made regular appearances on one of the most cherished sitcoms, Roseanne. And now that the TV show is making a triumphant return with a reboot (Tuesdays at 8 pm on CTV), viewers want to know if the esteemed actor will be back on the small screen. Unfortunately for George’s fans, they won’t catch him on the show this time around – but Rosanne Barr did share some fun behind-the-scenes pranks from his first stint on the series.'

The actress set the record straight on her former colleague in conversation with Howard Stern on Tuesday (Mar. 27), saying, “George Clooney didn’t want to come on. So, that was a bummer, but he lives in Italy.” The 56-year-old was a regular on the series from 1988 to 1991 playing Roseanne’s factory foreman Booker Brooks.

The cast will have to say goodbye to George’s notorious pranks, too. While on The Talk, Roseanne described one particularly phallic and unforgettable gag. "Well, we used to have a few cocktails after we wrapped on the set there—just the adults," the 61-year-old said, explaining that one such happy hour got particularly rowdy. "George took a picture of his, um, wiener?" She went on to say, "He had these Groucho [Marx] glasses, and he put the Groucho glasses [down there], so that the wiener was—instead of the nose, he took the nose off." The next day, the photo was posted on set on the Conner family fridge.

While it would’ve been amazing to see the producer step back into his TV role, it’s not surprising that he simply doesn’t have time for it. The actor has been mighty busy with his 9-month-old twins Alexander and Ella, which he shares with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney. Though his Roseanne days are well over, George hasn’t let go of his funny bone! He brought some major laughs (and heartfelt moments) to the stage when he appeared on David Letterman’s new show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
